Massachusetts State Police Trooper Matthew Sheehan
Using the screen name “Big Irish,” Massachusetts State Police Trooper Matthew Sheehan, 49, began posting on a chat forum called MassCops in 2012, writing about his work details in the State Police Color Guard and former job working for the Department of Correction. But the trooper also used the website to spew hate-filled sentiments with blatant racial overtones, including some supporting cops who shoot suspects, the Boston Globe reports.

Officer Sheehan was shot and killed by his brother after a dispute. The brother had come home drunk and Officer Sheehan confronted him about his alcohol problem. After a short argument, the suspect went into their house and took Officer Sheehan’s gun, and shot him in the back and his three-year-old son clung to his leg. When officers arrived, they arrested the suspect and charged him with murder.
Officer Sheehan was survived by his son.
